DSP in Soft Toy from scrap materials concluded in Phaduna, Punakha.

Today, the two months DSP in Soft Toy from scrap materials concluded in Phaduna, Punakha.

The two expert trainers from Thailand, Ms. Mullika Songkhoa and Ms. Chittraporn Udomkantrong trained the 16 Desuups to cut and sew soft toy patterns by hand and use sewing machines as well.

Hon'ble Kesang Chuki Dorjee thanked the expert trainers for volunteering their time to support the Desuung Skilling Programme. She also congratulated the Desuups and encouraged them to continue to design and sell their products.

Their soft toys will soon be available at Choego.

Seven De-suups competed their "Intermediate Level" metal smith training working with silver at the Taba training center.

These De-suups were the top performers of the previous batches of basic metal smithing trainings.

They were trained by experts from the USA, Michael McRae and Jacob D. Morgan.

The students learned how to create stamps for their jewellery from a sixth generation Navajo Silversmith, Jacob D. Morgan. The two weeks course, materials and trainer was sponsored by the Rio Grande company in the USA.

With Michael McRae, the Desuups continued to work on honing their skills as they made necklaces, cuffs, rings and earrings in silver.

Their beautiful jewelry line will be on display and at Choe-go so


Sound and Stage Lighting - Intermediate

8 dedicated De-suups as they successfully completed the 'Sound and Stage Lighting - Intermediate Level 2' course in Thimphu! ๐ŸŒŸ Over the span of 3 intense months, they immersed themselves in a world of multimedia, projection techniques for live events, 3D stage design, advanced sound mixing, and live basking design.

Under the expert guidance of Mr. Benjamin Jonjon Villareal Jr from the Philippines, these De-suups have undergone a transformative journey, evolving from Basic to Intermediate (Level 2) proficiency over the course of a year. ๐ŸŒŸ

Their dedication and hard work culminated in a stunning showcase where they demonstrated their mastery of sound and lighting techniques. ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ’ก

Professional Cookery Course

The 2nd cohort of 12 De-suups completed the Professional Cookery Course in Culinary Arts on 25 April 2023.

The Professional Cookery course includes the highest hospitality industry competencies in international cuisine, molecular-gastronomy and training in beverage and wine service.

Under the guidance of Chef Pakpoom Jitprapai (Patrick) this course is based on ASEAN Competencies & Standards to ensure that the De-suups attain standards at par with international levels in the hospitality industry so that they can participate at a global level in the fast-moving industry.

Considering the popularity of the course and the bright prospects for employment, the DSP launched the training for the 3rd cohort of 19 De-suups at the Training Center in Pangbisa. The course is open for De-suups who have completed the Foundation and Intermediate level courses and at least three months on-the-job training and demonstrated discipline, seriousness and passion for the Culinary Arts.
