On March 5th, 2024, the DSP in Digital Fabrication course concluded after a month-long session at Choego Fablab, Thimphu.

With 17 De-suups participating, the program was led by trainers De-suup Karma Lhakee and De-suup Ugyen Lhamo. De-suups honed their skills in various digital fabrication techniques, encompassing basic electronics, 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, engraving, and vinyl cutting.

At the closing ceremony, De-suup trainees showcased and demonstrated four prototype projects: 1. Solar Tracker (change in inclination to maximize power generation); 2. Road safety project (alert system in dangerous curves), 3. Smart blind Assistance device project (detects objects in its pathway), and 4. Smart Parking project (parking management system to improve parking efficiency). The DSP Solar team was also in attendance during the closing ceremony.

"DSP in VIDEO EDITING & MOTION GRAPHIC"

Eligibility: De-suups who have completed DSP in ICT foundation course can apply. Preference will also be given for De-suups who have undergone Graphic design & training in creative skills.

50 candidates will be shortlisted, out of which 35 will be selected through interview by the training provider (Learnio).

Video editing is one of the most demanded skills these days. Whether you are a YouTuber or a company trying to promote your brand online, you need a video editor’s help in editing your content. DSP is launching a comprehensive video editing and motion graphic course in collaboration with Learnio to provide an excellent opportunity for our youth to learn this interesting skill.

The training will start with teaching you about Adobe Premiere Pro where you will be introduced to the basic Premiere Pro tools and techniques of video and audio editing. This course will show you how you can import different video files to your Premiere Pro software and how you can create a sequence, color grade it, and complete a project. You will also learn to add a piece of music or any audio file.

In the second part of the training, you will learn about Adobe After Effects and you will learn to create beautiful and engaging motion graphics. This course will not only teach you all that you need to know about motion design, but you will also learn to make product animations or explainer videos. You will be able to control the interface of After Effects and also learn advanced topics like character animations and rotoscoping. There are several projects throughout this course, which will test your progress. After this course, your basic understanding of after-effects software and motion design will be very strong, and you will be able to undertake any kind of work related to motion design and explainer videos in freelance marketplaces.

At the end of the training, you will also be trained in freelance and communication skills and you will be assisted in setting up your freelance profiles on Upwork, Fiverr, PeoplePerHour, etc so that you can start earning with the skills you have learned.

Additionally, a Garuda bar and cafe to provide a relaxing space for socializing and networking. The inclusion of Fablab studios further underscores the Center's commitment to fostering creativity and technical skills.

DSP in 'Introduction to Buddhist Philosophy and Practice - 13th cohort' was launched on 09 November 2023 at Nyinzergang Lhakhang, Thimphu. His Eminence Leytshog Lopen Sangay Dorji Rinpoche graced the opening ceremony. Dasho Tshering Wangchuk (domain lead & member of DSP Steering committee) was also present.

The month long program will be delivered by His Eminence Leytshog Lopen Sangay Dorji assisted by Khenpo Karma Thinley & Khenpo Kuenley Tshering

Learnio’s beginner-friendly web-development course is designed to empower the students from zero coding experience to a professional front-end developer.

The program will start off with the basics of coding and how to set up their coding environment. Then take them from beginner to advanced levels of HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap followed by Javascript, Node JS, and React. At the end of the course, the program will have 4 real-world projects as assignments that will help them prepare for jobs.

DSP in UI/UX design concluded on 05 November 2023 in Thimphu. 17 De-suups participated in the program for duration of 2 months and Mr. Diego Menchaca (Chile) was the expert trainer.

Dr. Tshering C Dorji (Domain lead & Member of DSP Steering Committee) was the Chief Guest and awarded certificates to the trainees. UI/UX Design fair was also held during the closing ceremony, where UI UX design trainee De-suups showcased their works for UI/UX design enthusiasts and potential employers.

The ceramics programme attracts youth creative and artistic young people eager to work with their hands.

The latest batch of Ceramic Souvenirs has Desuups learning about bespoke tableware and will explore this for the 1.5 months.
