The DSP in Developing Communications concluded today

The DSP in Developing Communications concluded today. The Desuups underwent an intensive six weeks training to improve their grammer and vocabulary, writing skills, and communication.

The 27 Desuups said that they gained a lot of confidence from the training, they were able to articulate their thoughts and present for different scenarios using power points, infographics, short stories as well as prepare for job interviews.

Hon'ble Kesang Chuki Dorjee congratulated the Desuups and awarded the certificates.

She also met with the newly launched Soft Toy Making that is being conducted by two Thai expert trainers, Ms.Mullika Songkhoa

Ms.Chittraporn Udomkantrong.

Over the next two months, Desuups will learn basic tailoring skills and learn how to produce a variety of soft toys from local and waste materials.

The DSP in ‘Fundamentals of Web Development & UX Design’ began on March 6, 2024, at the DSP training center in Phaduna, Punakha. 16 De-suups have been chosen to participate in the training, which will span three months. Ms. Joanna Koh, hailing from Singapore, serves as the Expert Trainer.

During the program, trainees will immerse themselves in the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, emphasizing the fusion of technical expertise with a profound comprehension of user requirements. The curriculum is meticulously designed to prepare trainees for triumph in the ever-evolving digital realm


The 6th cohort of the Integrated Fitness Training (IFT): Strength & Nutrition, Body Combat, Zumba successfully concluded on March 7, 2024.

The 6th cohort of the Integrated Fitness Training (IFT): Strength & Nutrition, Body Combat, Zumba successfully concluded on March 7, 2024. This intensive program, spanning over two months, catered to 33 De-suups at Dechencholing, Thimphu. Facilitated by DSP Certified De-suups: Mr. Tenzin Duba, Ms. Nedup Zangmo, Mr. Sangay Tenzin, Ms. Tshering Lhamo, Mr. Tandin Wangchuk, and Mr. Jigme Thinley, the training covered a comprehensive range of fitness disciplines.

Throughout the program, participants delved into various workout forms, refining techniques, enhancing body movement and flexibility, and gaining insights into diet and nutrition. Notably, there were significant physical transformations observed, with one male trainee experiencing an average weight loss of 10 kg and female trainee shedding 8 kg.

The closing ceremony was attended by Zimpon Wom Sonam Thinley (Domain Lead & Member of DSP Steering Committee) as the Chief Guest & featured the awarding of certificates to the accomplished De-suups. In his address, the Chief Guest extended heartfelt congratulations to the trainees, encouraging them to disseminate their acquired skills, maintain their health, and uphold their physique. Additionally, it was announced that DSP would organize one more cohort of the IFT program, with selected individuals progressing to undertake the Intermediate program upon completion.

The DSP in ‘Basic Ceramics and Sculpture’ course began on March 6, 2024, at the DSP training center in Taba, Thimphu.

Hon'ble Kesang Chuki Dorjee (Domain lead and Member of DSP steering committee) attended the opening programme.

She said that the ceramics programme has been successfully creating modern Bhutanese ceramic souvenirs which are available on Drukair flights and at the Choego center.

The De-suups will be trained by Desuups Kharka and Melam both who have received advanced trainings in-country and opportunities to upskill in Thailand and Vietnam.

On March 5th, 2024, the DSP in Digital Fabrication course concluded after a month-long session at Choego Fablab, Thimphu.

With 17 De-suups participating, the program was led by trainers De-suup Karma Lhakee and De-suup Ugyen Lhamo. De-suups honed their skills in various digital fabrication techniques, encompassing basic electronics, 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, engraving, and vinyl cutting.

At the closing ceremony, De-suup trainees showcased and demonstrated four prototype projects: 1. Solar Tracker (change in inclination to maximize power generation); 2. Road safety project (alert system in dangerous curves), 3. Smart blind Assistance device project (detects objects in its pathway), and 4. Smart Parking project (parking management system to improve parking efficiency). The DSP Solar team was also in attendance during the closing ceremony.


CHOEGO CENTER Opens in Chubachu, Thimphu: A Hub for Desuup Career Development.

In a significant development for the Desuups of Bhutan, the CHOEGO CENTER has officially opened its doors in Chubachu, Thimphu. This unique wooden structure, commanded by His Majesty The King, is a state-of-the-art facility designed to support the Desuups in their career aspirations.

At the heart of the Center is a top-floor products gallery, where Desuups can showcase and sell items they've created. This space not only provides a platform for entrepreneurship but also celebrates the talents and skills of our dedicated Desuups.

Further enhancing the Center's utility are well-equipped workstations and meeting halls, available for Desuups. These spaces are perfect for collaboration, innovation, and fostering professional growth.

Adding to the versatility of the Center, it houses hair salons, beauty spas, and bike maintenance stations, offering a range of services to the community while providing valuable vocational opportunities for our Desuups.

On the ground floor, the Center boasts a lecture series hall and a fitness center, aligning with the holistic development approach for our Desuups. Additionally, a Garuda bar and cafe to provide a relaxing space for socializing and networking. The inclusion of Fablab studios further underscores the Center's commitment to fostering creativity and technical skills.

The Choego Center is a beacon of hope and opportunity, a place where Desuups can hone their skills, build their careers, and contribute significantly to the nation building. This landmark initiative is a testament to His Majesty's vision for the empowerment and development of Bhutan's youth.
